L’OTUS Cake Boutique RICHMOND: A Sweet Escape in the Heart of Richmond

The shop is bright and cute. If you’re mot a durian-lover, beware of the smell when you step in. There are a variety of crepe cakes, rolls, drinks and gelato. We ordered a bd cake - durian, of course. It was pricey, but worth it. There are a few tables - I can see myself returning to have a drink and a sweet treat with a friend or two; it’s that inviting.

Tried their rose lychee crepe cake and it was beautifully made, light, and fluffy. It tasted more of rose than lychee and was very rosy. Only get it if you like the taste of flowers. The quality was great. Would try another flavour in the future.

The thousand layer crepe is to die for, especially loved the Rose and Lychee flavored ones. The cake is mostly rose flavored, with real lychee on top. Can’t tell if the cake itself had lychee flavours too; if it did then it was very light, so even those who aren’t fans of the lychee taste can have this. The creamy rose tea is also lovely; love how the potted tea comes with free water refill, so you and a friend (or 2) can share.

I purchased a cream brûlée crêpe cake for a birthday. When I saw the price of the small cake, I was really surprised because it was quite pricey. But then I realized how many layers the bakery had made and how delicately the cream was balanced with other flavors. Next time, I’ll try a different flavors like matcha and durian.

I've gone here quite a few times and every time have thoroughly enjoyed the desserts I got. They are very light and not too sweet. The matcha quality is also very good.

First time visiting from Seattle and was solo dining on my birthday. The cafe was packed with all tables occupied. I did not have a reservation and my hair was a mess (was windy that afternoon), but my barista/server gleefully directed me to sit in one of the reserved booths. Aww! Thank you so much for the exceptional service and for the crepes that are aesthetically pleasing and tasty! And the oat matcha latte...gulped within 5minutes!

i ordered the lava yuzu matcha cake for my boyfriends birthday and it was great! the cake was a lot bigger than i expected, i would say it could serve up to 6 people. the service was great, i had a really smooth process ordering online, and i could tell that the staff put a lot of care into putting the cake together i’ve never had a lava cake before and i wanted to make his birthday super special and this cake truly suited the occasion ~ the outer layer is a delicious matcha cream, the sponge cake also has some matcha in it, and the sponge slides are layered with fresh whipped cream. the middle is filled with a delicious yuzu sauce, and the upper part is topped with crunchy (chocolate?) bits. the cake is quite cream-heavy, but the yuzu sauce and matcha flavours help balance out the cream. although the cakes are quite pricey here i would say they are worth the cost to make someone’s day really special. thank you lotus cake boutique!

We tried several different flavours of cake slices, and the matcha roll was my favourite — it had a strong matcha flavour and wasn't overly sweet. The tiramisu was also excellent. However, the other cakes (Earl Grey, Mango, Lychee) were a bit disappointing. While the flavours were lovely, the cream was too rich — almost greasy and buttery. It felt like it may have been overwhipped fresh cream or perhaps mixed with another type of fat. Next time, I’d stick with the roll cakes.
